The shrine of Imam Ali is located in the center of the city of Najaf. Imam Ali bin Abi Talib: He is the cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad, and is considered the first imam in Shiite Islam, the husband of Fatima al-Zahra, the father of Imam Hassan and Imam Hussein.

The current shrine was built in 1637, and has undergone a lot of renovation. The dome is plated with pure gold, about 7000 golden bricks, from the inside it is decorated with mosaics and some Quranic verses. There are also two minarets with a height of 35 meters.

The area of ​​the Imam Ali shrine is about 13,200 square meters, and the shrine has 6 wonderful doors. The tomb is located in the middle of the mosque. The mosque has a large courtyard with 100 rooms. It is considered one of the most beautiful religious shrines, a masterpiece of Islamic architecture.

It is also located near the shrine of Imam Ali Al Hawza Al-Ilmiyyah, the center of Islamic sciences for the Shiite sect.
